Love That Moves

When I (Sharon Kelly) visited Mozambique, in the Summer of 2025, I met a group of mothers who were asking for help but we didn't have any specialised wheelchairs. It broke my heart to hear their struggles -carrying children on their back for miles which was often impossible. The result was that the child was left at home.

We launched a campaign called 'Love that Moves' to raise money for these wheelchairs.  God provided in amazing ways and we were able to order a consignment of specialist wheelchairs from CLASP. My husband, Melvin, witnessed their arrival in July and the Exodus team he was hosting helped to unload. Two weeks later I arrived in Mozambique with a team. God had placed it on peoples hearts to give of their skills to work together and serve in Somos Nós.  We had physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Carers and those with practical skills.  As they offered up their time and skills to God, it was a blessed time of serving together with our Mozambican brothers and sisters.

Wheelchairs were built, children were assessed and the Somos Nós team gained new skills and training. We went back to the group of mums from last year and were able to share God's Word.  Like Hagar in the Bible, I believe God heard their cry, saw them and responded.  We were able to fit many wheelchairs that day.

The ministry of Somos Nós is possible because each person plays their part in what God is doing - we work together. We are so thankful for all our partners.

Partnership with Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM)

Somos Nós is grateful for the partnership with Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM).  As part of this partnership Somos Nós has received wheelcahirs and, as a follow-up, representatives from FWM came to Mozambique from 24th-26th June 2025 to facilitate a 3 day training of the Somos Nós team and volunteers.  In total 36 people were trained by FWM.  This training has been invaluable.  A further container of 440 wheelchairs from FWM arrived in December 2025. In 2026 Somos Nós had an audit, conducted by Elizabeth, from Free Wheelchair Mission.  They received an glowing audit report.  We are so thankful for the dedication, skills and vision of our Mozambican Somos Nõs team.  We are also grateful for Free Wheelchair Missions partnership, as together we desire to see transformation in lives and communities in Mozambique.

Raja received a FWM wheelchair but he also received so much more - on that day he became part of a community who accepted and cared for him. He was so grateful that he decided to come to the Wednesday clinic each week to use his sewing skills.  Not only does he use them to be a blessing but he is training others so that they too can sew. Blessed to be a blessing!

FWM training June 2025 - It is encouraging to see people living with disability eager to minister to others.

Alda came to Somos Nós in search of a wheelchair for her son Kewane. He received a FWM wheelchair. Each Wednesday they both come to the Somos Nós clinic to serve and help others. Alda's two other children (Michela and Vladimir, who are teenagers), also serve as volunteers in Somos Nós. It is wonderful to see people being helped and then helping others.

In June 2026 Benni received a FWM wheelcahir. While life is very difficult for him with very limited mobility, he had a great smile on his face and loved to chat. He went away thrilled with his new wheelchair which will enable him to leave his home and be part of community life.
